WHEN SHOULD A MATERNITY SESSION BE SCHEDULED FOR?
Generally, I recommend women be between 32 and 35 weeks of pregnancy for their Maternity Portraits. This way you have a defined belly, however, you not at the point where you are uncomfortable on your feet yet. If you have any complications, we can schedule your Maternity Portraits earlier than this window.
I recommended you schedule your session as early as 12 weeks since this allows us time to plan your custom scenes. However, if you are currently between 32 and 35 weeks and just getting around to thinking about Maternity Portrait don’t worry I can still accommodate you!
WHAT IF I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR TO MY MATERNITY SESSION?
Not to worry! I have a gorgeous selection of luxury maternity gowns to choose from for your Maternity Portraits.
If I do not have a gown you would like to wear for your session, I can work with my suppliers to identify the perfect gown. If you purchase the gown from my wish list of gowns, I will offer a product credit in exchange for adding your gown to my client closet.
HOW OLD SHOULD BABIES BE FOR NEWBORN SESSIONS?
Babies typically experience their first growth spurt during their third week, therefore, Newborn Portraits take place when babies are two weeks of age or younger. During their third week, babies also tend to be more alert and hungry during the day. My goal is is to capture their Newborn Portraits while they are still in their sleepy stage.
I recommended purchasing your Newborn session well before your baby arrives to allow time to plan out your custom scenes. Generally, prior to 32 weeks just in case your baby arrives early.
If your baby has already arrived and your just getting around to thinking about Newborn Portrait don’t worry I can still accommodate you. I would be honored to capture your beginning!
WHAT IF MY BABY IS PAST THE NEWBORN AGE DEADLINE, CAN I STILL DO NEWBORN PORTRAITS?
Yes, I have had great success capturing adorable artwork for my clients with older babies! After the first two weeks I may not be able to get your baby to settle into unwrapped and unique poses, but there are soo many precious wrapped poses we can capture. I recommend filling out my contact form below so I can give you a call to discuss your baby’s age and your goals for the portraits.
DO YOU SUPPLY PROPS FOR MATERNITY, NEWBORN, MILESTONE, & FAMILY PORTRAITS?
Absolutely!! I provide props from my selection for Newborn, Milestone, and Family Portraits.
For Maternity Portraits, I provide access to my client closet of luxury gowns for you to choose from.
So rest assure even if you have nothing at all I will have more then you need for your entire session.
MY BABY IS ABOUT TO TURN ONE WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE THEIR CAKE SMASH SESSION?
I recommend reaching out weeks before your baby’s first birthday; however, the actual portrait should take place after their birthday party with friends and family. This allows us to know whether or not your child enjoys getting messy or not. My first daughter has always been soo neat and did not like digging into her cake, while my youngest was more than happy to dig right in. 🙂

DO YOU OFFER STUDIO PORTRAITS AND OUTDOOR SCENES IN ONE SESSION?
Depending on the time of year here in Minnesota, you always have the option to include both studio portraits and outdoor scenes in your session. If you are interested in including both in your session, make sure to let us know during your pre-session consultation.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN MY SESSION?
All sessions include a pre-session consultation (done over the phone) to discuss goals for your session and artwork, style, clothes and props to bring, etc.
* Maternity Sessions include up to an hour of photographing and 3 to 5 scenes between our indoor and outdoor studio. Spouses and older children are absolutely welcome and involved in each portrait. Access to our client closet of luxury gowns is also included.
* Newborn Sessions include up to 4 hours of photographing and 3 to 5 scenes plus portraits with moms, dads, and siblings. All props and outfits are included for your baby and moms have access to our client closet of luxury gowns.
* Mini Sessions (available for children 3 months and older) include a half hour of photographing and 3 scenes between our indoor and outdoor studio.
*Family Sessions include up to an hour of photographing and 3 to 5 scenes between our indoor and outdoor studio.
All sessions include a viewing and ordering session at Destiny Designs and Photography where we can help you narrow down your choices and place your order. (all orders must be placed during a viewing and ordering session, we do not offer proofing websites)
All sessions include design consultation to discuss the best ways to display your custom artwork using our interior design software which will allow you to see your portraits on your very own walls (done during your viewing and ordering session).
HOW DO I SEE ALL MY PORTRAITS AFTER MY SESSION?
Approximately 2-3 weeks after your portrait session you will come back in to Destiny Designs and Photography for your viewing and ordering session. At this session you will not only be able to view your artwork as if you were in a movie theater, but you will also be able to see your artwork on your very own walls. I will guide you through selecting artwork that will compliment your home and melt your heart for years to come!

WHAT TYPE OF ARTWORK PACKAGES ARE AVAILABLE?
I offer customizable package options that allow you to pick and choose what works best for you. One of my options allows you to keep all your memories plus a signature art product and the other allows you to narrow to only your favorites. To learn more about the full details, lets chat!
